You and Effective Conflict
Facilitated by Dr Regena Mitchell
In Auckland at a date to be advised
Despite knowing the value of conflict, we also know that there is a widespread
tendency to avoid it. Research consistently reflects the human tendency to
want to remove those individuals from our work groups who we experience as
challenging despite knowing that their challenging has assisted us in making
wiser decisions.
(June 2005 HBR ‘Competent Jerks, Lovable Fools, and the Formation of
Social Networks)
Management educators and leadership coaches know the importance of managers
learning how to identify and handle productive and nonproductive interpersonal
conflict in their workplaces. And, that productive interpersonal conflict leads
to winning more and losing less.
This MasterClass will use the NZ-Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Inventory (NZ-TKI)
to get to the heart of what it takes to transform workplace conflicts into
opportunities for innovation, a deeper appreciation of diversity, and enhanced
problem solving and group decision making. The MasterClass will include an
insight into contemporary interpersonal conflict research and take a practical
approach to opening up dialogue and assist in building collaboration at work.
Learning Style
This intensive MasterClass will combine personalized feedback, facilitated
interactive sessions with practical exercises and mini case studies. Participants
are limited to 20 MBA graduates.
Participants are asked to submit a brief 1-2 page description of a current
interpersonal conflict issue in their organization for discussion during the
MasterClass. Please exclude specific names; locations will remain confidential.
