Application and fee All New Zealand educational institutions require that applicants complete an application form and present it for consideration. Many require applicants to write short essays or personal goal statements. A few require an application fee.

Letters of reference Two or three letters from current or previous employers are often required. Some programmes have special forms, which are provided for referees to complete.

Undergraduate degree Completion of an undergraduate degree is preferred by all New Zealand MBA programmes. However, exceptions are made and individuals are encouraged to discuss their particular situation and educational preparation with MBA programme representatives to determine appropriateness. Official transcripts of completed course work are required, in most cases. Non-domestic students may be charged fees for confirming previous qualifications.

Work experience Most institutions prefer candidates who have work experience. The minimum required ranges from 2 to 5 years.
