Programme costs?

For many people, the financial aspect of pursuing an MBA is a major consideration. Compared to MBA programs offered overseas, most New Zealand MBA programs remain a much less expensive alternative. Program fees for domestic students vary from NZ$19,940 (AIS St Helens) to NZ$43,600 (Auckland). Fees for non-domestic students range from NZ$29,990 and NZ$45,255.

Textbooks. Auckland*, Canterbury* and Victoria* do not include textbooks in their quoted fees. Textbook costs have been estimated [$200 per topic] for these programs in order to compare ‘like with like’ in the table below.

Fee changes. Only one New Zealand MBA program (Otago) guarantees a total fee for the duration of the students’ program of study. All others quote annual fees, which often increase over the duration of the program of study. You are advised to check on how fees are handled in your preferred programs.

The fees reflected on this site are for the duration of a degree program and include ‘incidentals’ such as building levies and student services fees. They are subject to change according to the policy of each educational institution. Data collected through and including May 2010.

                                                                      Living costs?

For those who study full-time, the cost of pursuing the MBA also may include the cost of relocation. This may be reasonably easy to calculate for those who are single and fairly difficult for those who are married with children. When considering the cost of full-time study it is also important to look into the costs of accommodation, food and transportation within the community where you will be studying. There is considerable variation in living costs between the major cities within New Zealand and these costs can add substantially to the total cost of pursuing the MBA.
